Title:  Community  Support Worker

Status:  Full-Time

Qualifications:  BA, MA, MSW or HS with a minimum of 2 years adult mental health experience, must have own transportation, valid driver’s license and clean driving record, must have a cell phone and/or consistent mode of communication, must pass background check

General Purpose:  Community support workers teach individuals with mental illness the skills necessary to manage their illness and achieve personal recovery goals.  Community support work is focused on providing skill training in the areas of independent living, employment, education, health and social skills in an effort to promote meaningful and satisfying lives to young adults and children with severe and persistent mental illness.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist clients in identifying personal recovery goals.
  • Provide psycho-education and teach symptom management skills to minimize the effects of symptoms on individuals’ daily lives
  • Access community resources
  • Teach coping skills
  • Help clients develop their personal support systems
  • Attend training and meetings
  • Implement innovative programming for young adults with mental illness.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review the progress of clients and plan for services.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Enjoys working as part of a team
